![]() ![]() ![]() As you would expect, power users and extension developers alike criticized Google’s proposal for limiting the user’s ability to browse the web as they see fit. With the Manifest V3 proposal, Google deprecates the webRequest API’s ability to block a particular request before it’s loaded. In particular, modern ad blockers, like uBlock Origin and Ghostery, use Chrome’s webRequest API to block ads before they’re even downloaded. Manifest V3 comprises a major change to Chrome’s extensions system, including a revamp to the permissions system and a fundamental change to the way ad blockers operate. In a response to the overwhelming negative feedback, Google is standing firm on Chrome’s ad blocking changes, sharing that current ad blocking capabilities will be restricted to enterprise users. PLEASE install AdBlock Plus on every browser you use for school to avoid bothersome ads on assignment pages. Get rid of ads with AdBlock Plus, a free program that will block all those sidebar and pop-up ads. Please make sure your browser is up to date. Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge, and Duck Duck Go do not work well and are associated with the most glitches and problems. BrowserĮasy Peasy recommends Chrome or Firefox as the browser on your PC. If you are using Google Family Link, your student will need to use a 13+ account for school, or the YouTube videos won’t play. If you encounter a link that doesn’t work, check your software filter first. If you are running a filtering software on your computer or home network (like Disney Circle or K9 Web Protection), it may block some assignment links. Please make sure you are running the most up-to-date version of your computer’s operating system and browser. Chromebooks work great for EP but you will need to make sure your student is using an account that is set for an age of 13+ or the YouTube videos in the assignments won’t play.
